Tomas, Batangas.<\/p>\n<p>Sa tatlong araw na plenaryo ng CBCP na ginanap sa Cagayan de Oro City, pormal na inendorso ng kalipunan ng mga Katolikong obispo sa Pilipinas ang petisyon na nananawagan sa Vatican na ideklarang ang pambansang dambana ng paring Franciscano at stigmatist na si Padre Pio bilang pandaigdigang dambana gaya nang Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage o Birhen ng Antipolo sa Lalawigan ng Rizal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have approved to endorse the application of the National Shrine of Padre Pio into an international shrine,\u201d ani Kalookan Bishop at CBCP president Pablo Virgilio David sa isang press conference noong Lunes, Hulyo 8.<\/p>\n<p>Nagsimula ang dambana ni Padre Pio sa Sto. Tomas, Batangas bilang maliit na kapilyang itinayo bilang parangal sa paring Capuchin at naging ganap na parokya noong 2003. Taong 2008 naman nang kilalanin ito bilang \u201carchdiocesan shrine\u201d at ganap na naging national shrine noong 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Ayon naman kay Archbishop Gilbert Garcera ng Lipa, bukod sa pag-endorso ng CBCP, nakakalap na rin ng suporta ang kanilang balak na gawing international shrine ang naturang simbahan mula sa ilang mga pinuno ng episcopal conferences sa Asya.<\/p>\n<p>Kung maaaprubahan ng Roma, ang Padre Pio shrine ang magiging ikalawang international shrine sa Pilipinas.
