Iginiit ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. nitong Biyernes na ang desisyon ng Korte Suprema na ideklarang labag sa Konstitusyon ang Articles of Impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte ay hindi tumalakay sa merito o laman ng mga reklamo.
Ayon kay Marcos, ang naging batayan ng Korte Suprema ay usaping teknikal at procedural, hindi kung may nagawang mali o tama si Duterte.
“We have to make very, very clear to everyone that the Supreme Court decision does not have any bearing on the rightness or wrongness of the merits of the impeachment case. They’re not saying that there was no wrongdoing,” ayon kay Marcos Jr.
“Neither are they saying there was wrongdoing. All they’re saying is you did not handle it properly. That’s it,” dagdag niya.
Nilinaw din ng Pangulo na wala siyang papel sa impeachment process laban sa Bise Presidente, na kanyang naging ka-tandem noong halalan 2022.
”I keep telling you, the Executive has no role in this. The President has no role. I’m an impeachable officer. I cannot involve myself in any of this. So, it’s really the Supreme Court, the Senate, and the House,” paliwanag ni Marcos Jr.
”So, that’s where the decisions were made on the issues between the House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has decided, and like I’ve said, that’s it. The Supreme Court has decided,” aniya.
Noong Miyerkules, bumoto ang Senado na ilipat sa archives ang Articles of Impeachment laban kay Duterte, kasunod ng desisyon ng Korte Suprema na ideklarang labag sa Konstitusyon ang impeachment.
Ayon sa Korte Suprema, lumabag ang impeachment sa one-year bar rule sa ilalim ng Artikulo XI, Seksyon 3(5) ng Konstitusyon.
Pinuna rin ng Korte na nilabag ng mga reklamo ang karapatan ni Duterte sa due process.
Naghain ng motion for reconsideration ang Kamara,sa pamamagitan ng Solicitor General, sa Korte habang pinagsumite rin ng Kataas-taasang Hukuman ng sagot si VP Duterte. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
