NANINIWALA si Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Pone-Enrile na ayaw ni Vice President Sara Duterte na humarap sa impeachment trial.
Ayon kay Enrile, malinaw sa mga asta ng Senado, tinengga na nga, ibinalik pa sa Mababang Kapulungan ang Articles of Impeachment.
“I do not know why they have to tarry. You know once an impeachment is filed with the Senate we have no other choice except to hear, to try it and decide it and it will not lapse. Once it is within the jurisdiction of the Senate, it has to discharge its duty to judge the case. It’s a sui juris,” sabi ni Enrile sa panayam ni Neil Mercado ng Phil. Daily Inquirer.
“Well, frankly, I think there is the semblance at least this is my opinion that Sara does not want to face an impeachment trial,” tugon ni Enrile kung bakit ibinalik sa Kamara ang articles of impeachment.
Aminado si Enrile na kahit siya mismo ay nagitla at ang publiko ay naguguluhan sa mga pangyayari.
“I’m sure the Filipino people who have a little understanding of these things will wonder why things are happening this way. It, I’m sorry to say this but even I was a little bit taken by the events that transpired. It was very evident that there is a desire to prevent the trial to go through, for what?” aniya.
Binigyan diin ni Enrile na dapat maintindihan ng sambayanang Pilipino na kung hindi masusunod ang proseso ng impeachment ay hindi mapapanagot ang opisyal ng pamahalaan na nasasangkot sa korapsyon.
Nakapanlulumo aniya na ang ilan sa mga senador ay hindi alam ang kanilang pinasok na trabaho kaya’t ang payo niya ay mag-aral naman sila.
“Nalulungkot ako, karamihan nitong mga nasa Senado ngayon marami sa kanila mga kaibigan ko, pero ‘yong mga bago na dapat mag-aral naman sila sana. At malaman nila kung ano talaga ang ibig sabihin nitong, itong trabaho na pumasok sa kanila na dapat niyong sundin,” wika ni Enrile. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
