IMBES matuwa, ‘nainis’ umano ang US-based Amkor Technology, Inc. sa inilabas na press release ng Palasyo matapos mag-courtesy call ang kanilang mga ehekutibo kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa Malakanyang noong 25 Pebrero 2025.
Nakasaad umano sa lumabas na press release matapos ang event na ,“The company is planning to relocate manufactured products from China to the Philippines,” na hindi nagustuhan ng Amkor dahil wala raw silang ganitong plano, ayon sa source sa Palasyo.
Ipinabatid umano ng Amkor sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang kanilang pagtutol sa “maling” impormasyon na nakasaad sa PR na lumabas sa PCO website, ilang media outlets, pati sa Radio Television Malacanang -RTVM Facebook page at For The First Couple FB page.
Dahil sa pag-alma ng Amkor ay binago ng Presidential Communications Office ang inilathalang PR at inilagay na pagpapalawak ng operasyon ang mithiin ng kompanya sa Pilipinas sa halip na “relocation” na nakasaad sa unang kalatas ng Palasyo.
“During the meeting, Amkor executives supported the Philippines’ bid to expand the semiconductor industry because of the country’s “good workforce. You guys have a very good workforce, and you can continue to grow,” an Amkor Technology official said,” ayon sa ‘revised’ PR ng PCO.
Ang Amkor, sabi sa RTVM FB page ay “one of the world’s largest providers of outsourced (OSAT) semiconductor packaging, design and test services. Its office in the Philippines, Amkor Technology Philippines, Inc. was established in 1989 and registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Auhority (PEZA in December 1995.”
