Hindi raw kasi kinaya ng kanyang ganda as she saw her daughter Venice board the US-bound plane. Like her firstborn Lorin, sa Amerika na rin ipagpapatuloy ni Lorin ang kanyang kolehiyo.
“Today, Venice spreads her wings as she begins a new chapter in her life as a university student,” pamamalita ng dating beauty queen.
“Sad but proud mom” is what Ruffa aptly describes herself. Sad dahil obviously, matagal-tagal ding mawawalay si Venice sa kanya.
But proud in the sense to see her daughter “chase her dreams as she forges new friendships” in the land of milk and honey.
Inihabilin nga ng TV host-actress si Venice kay Lorin who’s also in the States pursuing her studies.
Ruffa can’t help but address herself as “empty nester.”
The phrase refers to either parent whose children leave the house either to raise a family of their own–on in the case of Venice, to study abroad.
After all, Ruffa has no justifiable reason not to allow her kids pursue higher studies abroad lalo’t para rin ‘yon sa kanila.
Kung matatandaan din, Ruffa was already in her late 40s when she went back to school. She obtained her degree in mass communication from the Philippine Women’s University, where she also finished her master’s degree.
Gustong patunayan ni Ruffa that no one is too old to get a college diploma.
Siyempre, half of the credit goes to her boyfriend of four years– Herbert Bautista–who was her huge motivating factor. (RONNIE CARRASCO III)
