DESPERADONG taktikang panlihis ang plano ni Sen. Ronald ‘Bato” dela Rosa na magsagawa ng imbestigasyon ang Senado sa madugong drug war na ipinatupad ng rehimeng Duterte, ayon sa mga kongresista mula sa Makabayan bloc.
“Sino ang iimbestigahan niya? Sarili niya?” tanong ni Gabriela Party Rep. Arlene Brosas.
Giit ni Brosas, hindi dapat lustayin ang pondo ng bayan sa mga pagsisiyasat na nakadireksyon sa pag-absuwelto imbes alamin ang katotohanan.
“The Filipino people deserve accountability and justice for the thousands of lives lost and families shattered by this bloody and anti-poor war on drugs. This Senate probe, spearheaded by those deeply implicated, cannot be expected to deliver that,” ani Brosas.
Para kay Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raoul Manuel, ang mga imbestigasyon sa Kongreso ay hindi dapat magsilbing tabing sa mga senador na mismong sangkot sa pekeng drug war.
“Investigations at the HOR and the Senate should be in aid of legislation, not in aid of self-preservation,” sabi ni Manuel.
Binigyan diin ni House Deputy Minority Floor Leader and ACT Rep. France Castro na nais ni Dela Rosa na guluhin ang isyu na ang senador mismo ang may malalim na nalalaman.
“The sincerity and objectivity of this proposed investigation are in question, as it seems to serve as a diversion rather than a genuine effort to uncover the truth,” wika ni Castro.
“What’s that? Inquiry in aid of legislation or he only wishes to exonerate himself, (former president Rodrigo) Duterte and others involved in the extrajudicial killings?” dagdag niya.
Matatandaan idinawit ni ret. police Col. Royina Garma sina dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, Sen. Bong Go at dating police Col. Edilberto Leonardo sa implementasyon ng reward system sa drug war.
Si De la Rosa ay PNP chief nang ilunsad ang drug war at naganap ang malawakan at sistemakong pagpatay ng hinihinalang drug personalities sa buong bansa sa pamamagitan ng Oplan (Operation Plan) Double Barrel.
Umabot sa mahigit 30,000 ang namatay sa Duterte drug war ayon sa tala ng human rights groups.
Kasalukuyang iniimbestigahan ng International Criminal Court (ICC) sina Duterte at Dela Rosa sa kasong crimes against humanity kaugnay sa ipinatupad nilang madugong drug war. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
