đˇ: House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil
Posible kayang pinoprotektahan ng House Secretary General ang ilang mambabatas na iniimbestigahan ng Office of the Ombudsman kaugnay sa maanomalyang flood control projects?
Ito ang duda ni Ombudsman Jesus Crispin âBoyingâ Remulla na inihayag sa Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippinesâ Prospects of the Philippines 2026 forum kasunod ng ulat sa kanya ng anti-graft investigators na ayaw magbigay ng tanggapan ni House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil ng kopya ng statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) ng mga kongresistang sinisiyasat at kailangan pa umanong idaan sa plenaryo kung papayagan ito.
âI do not understand why they have to stonewall or give us a hard time with that because sooner or later, they will have to give it to us. But if their thought is to delay the process, I think they are mistaken,â ani Remulla.
Ayon sa Ombudsman, dating nagtrabaho si Garafil sa mga taong iniimbestigahan ngayon ng kanyang tanggapan.
âProbably thereâs conflict of interest. The Secretary General now used to work for some of the people we are investigating, thatâs why we are harboring suspicions that they maybe protecting people, and I don’t want to believe it,â sabi ni Remulla.
âHopefully, they stop doing that because this is a very urgent matter for the country,” dagdag niya.
Magpapadala ng liham si Remulla kay Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III hinggil sa isyu.
Wala pang tugon si Garafil sa pahayag ni Remulla. (RRN)
