IDINEKLARA ng Central Committee ng Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) sa lahat ng yunit ng New People’s Army (NPA) na magpatupad ng dalawang araw na pagsuspinde sa tactical offensive simula ala-una ng madaling araw ng 25 Disyembre hanggang hatimggabi ng 26 Disyembre, bilang pagdiriwang sa ika-55 anibersaryo ng CPP.
Ayon sa website ng CPP, ang dalawang araw na tigil-putukan ay bilang pakikiisa sa tradisyunal na selebrasyon ng Kapaskuhan, upang magkaroon ng pagkakataon ang mga magbubukid at mga yunit ng NPA na magtipun-tipon at ipagdiwang ang mga nakaraang tagumpay ng Partido at bilang pagpupugay sa mga bayani at mga martir ng rebolusyong Pilipino.
“The two-day ceasefire aims to allow the peasant masses and NPA units in their area to conduct assemblies, meetings or gatherings to celebrate the Party’s anniversary, look back at past achievements, and pay tribute to all heroes and martyrs of the Philippine revolution. This ceasefire declaration is also in solidarity with people’s traditional holiday celebrations,” sabi sa kalatas ng CPP.
“In the face of the relentless offensives, state terrorism and fascist crimes of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), all units of the NPA are placed in high alert and must be vigilant and ready to act in self-defense to counter and frustrate hostile movement or actions of enemy units within the scope of the NPA’s guerrilla fronts and areas of operations. The NPA and the masses are advised to maintain a high level of secrecy in the conduct of their activities,” dadag nito.
“Guerrilla offensives of the NPA can resume immediately at 0001 hours of December 27. Amid worsening economic crisis and intensifying oppression under the Marcos regime, the NPA must continue to carry out extensive and intensive guerrilla warfare to fight state terrorism and defend the people’s democratic rights and interests.”
Kaugnay nito, sinabi ni Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro na walang ceasefire na idedeklara ang gobyerno at tuloy ang operasyong militar.
“Wala, kaya walang change sa amin. There are no developments as far as we are concerned at tuloy tuloy pa rin ang operations ng AFP at other law enforcement agency sa NTF-ELCAC and the PNP. Plus, there are no conditions that are to be imposed upon us but from this exploratory talks, I have not heard anything,” sabi ni Teodoro sa programang Sa Totoo Lang sa One PH kagabi.
Noong nakaraang buwan ay nagkasundo ang administrasyong Marcos Jr. at CPP-NPA-NDFP na buhayin ang ilang beses nang naunsyaming peace talks.
