“In addition to the meetings of China-Philippines Bilateral Consultation Mechanism on the South China Sea (BCM), the Chinese side invited the Envoy of the President to China for Special Concerns of the Philippines [Teodoro Locsin Jr.] to Beijing last September to discuss how to properly manage the situation at Ren’ai Jiao , which resulted in an internal understanding,” ayon sa kalatas ng Chinese Embassy.

“Ang lumalabas po kasi, every now and then, may bago silang pakulo. Every now and then, China has a new narrative about supposed arrangements in the West Philippine Sea. First, it was the alleged promise ‘no, pangako daw na hindi tinupad ng ating bansa; pangalawa, naging gentleman’s agreement ‘no; ngayon naman, mayroong new model or intimate understanding ‘no,” sabi ni Malaya sa Presidential Communications Office (PCO) sponsored Saturday News Forum sa Quezon City  kanina.

‘We wish to remind the Chinese Embassy that any understanding… ‘di ba, anuman itong mga intimate understanding na ito, without the authorization of the president has no force and effect. And therefore, the Philippines never broke any agreement because there was none to begin with. What is there to break if there was no agreement whatsoever, ‘di ba?” wika ni Malaya.

(ROSE NOVENARIO)
