‘MISSING in action’ ang isang pulis na itinurong sangkot sa pagpatay kay dating Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board secretary Wesley Barayuga noong 2020.
Pinaghahanap ng pulisya si Jeremy Causapin, isang sarhento ng Philippine National Police (PNP) at dating security detail ni dating PCSO general manager Royina Garma.
Sa ginanap na quad committee hearing sa Mababang Kapulungan kamakailan, inginuso ni police LT. Col. Santie Mendoza si Garma at National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) commissioner Edilberto Leonardo bilang utak sa pagpaslang kay Barayuga noong 30 Hulyo 2020.
Sinabi ni PNP public information officer Col. Jean Fajardo na sinibak si Causapin a.k.a. Toks sa Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Hindi aniya natagpuan ng mga pulis sa kanyang bahay si Causapin at ang kanyang misis ay ipinakita sa kanila ang resignation letter ng kanyang mister sa PNP.
“We have to make it clear that even if he has resigned, this is no reason for him not to be investigated and tracked down,” sabi ni Fajardo sa press briefing sa Camp Crame kahapon.
Nabatid sa quad comm hearing na si Causapin ang nagbigay ng P300,000 isang Nelson Mariano, isa sa mga umano’y pumatay kay Barayuga.
Sinibak din ng PNP si Col. Roland Vilela, dating mister ni Garma, mula sa Information Technology Management Service at inilipat sa personnel holding and accounting unit ng Directorate for Personnel and Records Management.
Sinabi ni Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel, na nakatakda sanang tumestigo si Barayuga sa imbestigasyon ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) hinggil sa korapsyon sa small-town lottery (STL) operations.
Nakahanda na aniya si Barayuga na isiwalat ang mga illegal na aktibidad sa PCSO at may mga nakalap pang dokumento na magdadawit sa ilang tao.
“That’s why they had him killed.This murder wasn’t just about silencing one man; it was about protecting a web of corruption at the expense of justice and accountability,” ani Pimentel sa quad comm hearing.
“Col. Garma is a woman disguised as a meek lamb, but deep inside her, she is a ruthless killer, killing without mercy innocent people, killing without remorse innocent victims, especially in the war on drugs,” dagdag niya.
Iminungkahi nina Pimentel at Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro na irekomenda ng komite ang pagsasampa ng kasong murder o conspiracy to commit murder laban kina Garma at Leonardo. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
