PINATAWAN ng preventive suspension ng Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) ang dalawang programa sa SMNI ,”Gikan Sa Masa, Para Sa Masa” at “Laban Kasama ang Bayan.”
Si Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy ang host ng “Gikan Sa Masa, Para Sa Masa,” at regular guest dito si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, ay suspendido ng 14 araw simula 18 Disyembre 2023.
Habang ang “Laban Kasama ang Bayan” ay programa nina Jeffrey Celiz at Lorraine Badoy-Partoza.
Tinuran ng MTRCB na ang mga sanhi ng suspension ay mga paglabag gaya ng “death threats, profane language, and unverified news content .”
Anang board, ilang mga aspeto ng mga programa ay maaaring lumabag sa itinakdang “guidelines and standards set by Presidential Decree No. 1986 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations governing broadcasting content.”
Ipinapataw ang preventive suspension sa “offending programs” upang maiwasan maulit pa ang mga paglabag habang hindi pa itinatakda ang pagdinig sa reklamo.
“During the December 13 board meeting, a unanimous decision was reached to impose a 14-day preventive suspension on ‘Laban Kasama ang Bayan’ and a majority vote for ‘Gikan Sa Masa, Para Sa Masa.’ The decision aligns with the powers granted to the MTRCB by Presidential Decree No. 1986, ensuring that television programs adhere to contemporary Filipino cultural values,” ayon sa MTRCB.
“Upon careful review and consideration of recent events and complaints received by the Board, it was found that certain aspects of the abovementioned programs may have violated the established guidelines and standards set by Presidential Decree No. 1986 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) governing broadcasting content,” dagdag nito.
Nag-ugat ang desisyon ng MTRCB sa mga pagbabanta ni Duterte kay ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. France Castro sa “Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa” noong Oktubre at Nobyembre.
Habang sa “Laban Kasama Ang Bayan” ay ang maling akusasyon nina Celiz at Badoy kaugnay sa ginastos sa pagbiyahe ni Speaker Martin Romualdez. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
