INAMIN ng Malakanyang na “indirectly cooperating” ang administrasyong Marcos Jr. sa International Criminal Court (ICC) upang mabigyan ng hustisya ang mga biktima at mga testigo sa madugong drug war ng administrasyong Duterte.
“It can be said that it is indirectly cooperating with the ICC. But, the primary intention of the government is to help the victims and the witnesses of the victims to get the justice they need,” sabi ni Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro sa press briefing sa Palasyo.
“Iyon din naman po ang gusto ng Pangulo, mabigyan ng hustisya ang dapat na mabigyan ng hustisya,” dagdag niya.
Tutulungan aniya ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang mga witness “para makapag-testify, para mabigyan ng hustisya ang dapat na mabigyan ng hustisya. Hindi directly makikipagtulungan sa ICC.”
Binigyan diin niya na ang inaasistehan ng gobyerno ay mga mamamayang Pilipino na nangangailangan ng tulong para mabigyan sila ng hustisya.
“At iyan din naman po ang sinasabi ng Commission on Human Rights at ating kausap, ito po ang kanilang mensahe: “The CHR as constitutionally mandated has always made its services readily available to the extent possible to all victims regardless of circumstances and status in its pursuit of justice and accountability for alleged violations of human rights, whether local or abroad, with the assistance of relevant government agencies if necessary,” paliwanag ni Castro.
Nauna rito’y kinompirma ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla sasagutin ng gobyerno ang mga gastusin ng mga testigo na haharap sa paglilitis sa kasong crimes against humanity laban kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa ICC. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
