Binatikos ni Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro si Atty. Harry Kaufman kaugnay ng aniya’y maling pahayag nito hinggil sa kaso ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa International Criminal Court (ICC).
“Atty. Kaufman appears to have mastered the art of twisting some facts,” pahayag ni Castro matapos ipabatid ni Kaufman sa ICC na hindi tumututol ang Philippine government sa interim release ni Duterte.
Matatandaan na inihayag din ni Kaufman na walang pagtutol ang ICC prosecutor sa hiling ni Duterte na pansamantalang palayain.
Kalaunan, pinabulaanan ito nang magsumite ng opisyal na pagtutol ang prosecutor, na naglantad sa maling alegasyon ni Kaufman.
“He had done this action before when he asserted that the ICC prosecutor had no objection with former President Duterte’s request for an interim release,however after the ICC prosecutor filed an opposition, it was revealed to be his false allegations,” paliwanag ni Castro.
Muling iginiit ni Castro na walang kinalaman ang administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa kasalukuyang paglilitis sa ICC.
“Again with emphasis…we want to be clear that the Marcos Jr. administration is not privy and has no hand to the former President Duterte’s ongoing trial before ICC, particularly his request for interim release,” aniya.
Sa kabila ng kontrobersiya, tiniyak ni Castro na igagalang ng pamahalaan ang anumang desisyon ng ICC.
“However, as part of the legal process, no matter what the ICC decides, we will still respect it,” dagdag niya. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
