NATAGPUANG buhay pero bugbog-sarado ang dalawang environmental activists na dinukot noong Linggo ng gabi sa San Carlos, Pangasinan.
Sa joint statement na inilabas ng iba’t ibang progresibong organisasyon, nakasaad na matapos ang tatlong araw na puspusang paghahanap kina Francisco “Eco” Dangla III Joxelle “Jak” Tiong, pawang environmental rights defenders at church workers, natagpuan silang bugbog-sarado at wala na sa mga kamay ng mga dumukot sa kanila.
“While they are still reeling from their harrowing ordeal, we hope that in due time, Eco and Jak will be able to fully recount the details of their abduction and subsequent release. Their captors should desist from making any attempts to further harass them,” sabi sa kalatas.
Lubos ang pasasalamat nila sa mga sumuporta sa mga panawagan na ilabas sina Eco at Jak kasabay nang pagtiyak na kaisa sila sa pinagdaraanan ng mga pamilya ng dalawang aktibista.
“We extend our gratitude to all those who supported calls to surface Eco and Jak. Your swift and resolute actions have been invaluable confronting this challenging time. To Eco and Jak and their families, we stand steadfast in solidarity throughout this difficult period.”
Kaisa ang mga grupo sa paghingi nina Eco at Jak ng hustistya at dapat managot ang mga responsable sa kanilang pagdukoyat pag-tortyur sa kanila.
Ang naturang insidente ay patunay anila na ang terrorist-tagging ay nagbubunga ng mas malalalim na paglabag sa karapatang pantao kabilang ang sapilitang pagkawala.
“This pattern of attacks against environmental activists, human rights defenders and whole communities, in the context of the prevalent climate of impunity and socio-economic ills, shows that the rights situation in the Philippines remains dire under the Marcos Jr. administration,” giit ng mga grupo.
“We demand an end to attacks on environmental defenders and activists, and to surface all desaparecidos. Hands off our environmental and human rights defenders!”
