MARIING kinondena ng Makabayan bloc ang hirit ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa Korte Suprema na maglabas ng temporary restraining order para ipatigil ang impeachment trial laban sa kanya.
Sa isang kalatas, sinabi nina ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro, Gabriela Women’s Party Rep. Arlene Brosas at Kabataan Rep. Raoul Manuel na ang paghingi ng saklolo ni Duterte sa Supreme Court ay hindi lang masyadong maaga pa kundi garapal na pag-iwas sa pananagutan.
“We, the Makabayan bloc in Congress, strongly condemn Vice President Sara Duterte’s attempt to impede the impeachment trial by seeking a temporary restraining order (TRO) from the Supreme Court. This action is not only premature but also a blatant evasion of accountability,” anang Makabayan solons.
Naghain rin ng hiwalay na Petition for Certiorari and Prohibition sa Supreme Court si VP Sara kaugnay ng impeachment case na inihain sa kanya ng Kamara buko sa isinumiteng petisyon ng apat na Mindanawon lawyers para harangin ang impeachment proceedings laban sa pangalawang pangulo.
Giit ni Castro, malinaw na ayaw talaga harapin ni VP Sara ang mga kaso laban sa kanya sa tamang lugar, ang impeachment court.
“The Vice President’s move to halt the impeachment trial through the Supreme Court is a clear indication of her refusal to face the charges against her at the appropriate venue. The appropriate venue is the impeachment court not the Supreme Court. By resorting to legal maneuvers, she is reinforcing a troubling pattern of avoiding accountability,” ani Castro.
Kinuwestiyon ni Brosas ang naunang pahayag ni VP Sara na ‘welcome’ sa kanya ang impeachment at pinaghahandaan na ito ng kanyang defense team.
Hindi lang aniya ito pag-iwas sa pananagutan kundi kinain ni VP Sara ang kanyang mga salita.
“Whatever happened to her earlier statement welcoming the impeachment and preparing her defense team? It is evident now that she is backtracking on her words. Hindi lang ito tungkol sa kanyang pagtanggi sa accountability, kundi pati sa kanyang mga salita.”
Binigyan diin ni Manuel, “The proper venue for raising objections and addressing concerns is within the impeachment court, not through premature legal actions. It is disappointing to see the Vice President attempting to hinder the process instead of embracing it as an opportunity to defend herself, as she claimed she was ready to do. She is deceiving and confusing the few supporters she has left.”
Nanawagan ang Makabayan bloc sa Korte Suprema na ibasura ang anomang pagtatangka na iunsyami ang prosesong nakasaan sa Saligang Batas at tiyakin na manaig ang pananagutan.
“Ang aming panawagan: Ituloy ang proseso ng impeachment at huwag hayaang hadlangan ito ng anumang legal na taktika. The Filipino people deserve transparency and answers from their leaders,” wika pa ng Makabayan bloc. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
