BINUWELTAHAN ni Senate President Chiz Escudero si TINGOG Partylist Rep. Jude Acidre sa pahayag ng kongresista na si Vice President Sara Duterte ang makikinabang sa delay ng impeachment trial.
Ayon kay Escudero, kung ayaw ni Acidre na magkaroon ng probetso si VP Sara, sana ay hindi tinulugan ng Kamara ng mahigit dalawang buwan ang tatlong impeachment complaints na inihain at hindi isinumite sa tanggapan ni Speaker Martin Romualdez kahit nakasaad sa patakaran ng Mababang Kapulungan na dapat i-refer ito “immediately” sa Speaker.
“If he does not want to, then why did they (the House) delay the filing of the complaint before the Senate by sitting on the three impeachment complaints for MORE THAN TWO MONTHS without referring it to the Speaker, despite their own rules (Section3) that state that their SecGen “shall immediately” refer it to the speaker?” ani Escudero.
Iginiit ni Escudero na susundin ng Senado ang batas at mga patakaraan kahit pa sino ang makikinabang.
Hindi aniya sinasadya ng Senado na i-delay ang impeachment trial at hindi rin nila aapurahin ito dahil lamang sa panawagan ng ilang sektor.
“As I have said, we will follow the law and the rules regardless of who it happens to benefit. We will not delay (and are not delaying) anything and neither will we unduly rush doing anything that is contrary to law simply because some sectors are asking for it.,’ wika ng Senate President.
“The law is the law and we will not bend nor violate it on the mere desire or ask of partisan and biased individuals or sectors. I will favor no one and will ensure a fair and equitable procedure that will render justice to all concerned,” dagdag niya. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
